Balance high removal and low deformation

High material removal often comes at the cost of deformation, increasing the time or removal needed in the following step. Our grinding stones and diamond grinding discs are optimized to provide high, consistent removal with low deformation. This reduces the time spent on your fine grinding step and your overall preparation time – ideal for high-volume labs, or labs that need a very fast throughput.

Plane grind any type of material

To cater for a wide range of materials, we have developed a variety of different grinding stones. There are stones for softer and harder materials as well as for ductile/brittle materials. For extremely hard materials like sintered carbides or ceramics, we have a diamond grinding discs which reduces the plane grinding time significantly.

Fitting into your process or set-up

Our stones and disc require equipment just for high removal grinding, such as the AbraPlan or Hexamatic. As with all of our equipment and consumables, these have been specifically designed to work together to provide the best results. The high removal provides optimal planeness very quickly, including very uneven specimens where you might not have a materialographic cutting set-up.

KEY FEATURES

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (5)

Consistently high removal

In tests, Struers stones had an average removal rate of 474 μm/min, providing high, consistent removal for ultra-fast plane grinding

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (6)

Minimal deformation

By limiting deformation in your plane grinding step, you reduce the time and removal needed in your next step

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (7)

Optimized to your material

There is a dedicated stone or disc for both softer and harder materials, ductile/brittle materials, as well as extremely hard materials like sintered carbides or ceramics

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (8)

Large surface area

Prepare large specimens or many specimens in a very short time with the ability to prepare specimen holders up to 200 mm in diameter

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (9)

Grind uneven specimens

If you do not have a materialographic cutting set-up, you can plane grind uneven specimens very quickly with our high removal grinding stones or disc

Grinding stones and diamond grinding discs (10)

Water cooling

Our stones and disc use water for cooling, the ideal coolant for minimizing heat. This also reduces your need for classified products, while allowing for recirculation to save water
