History of Aberdeen/Aberdeen NC Real Estate/Aberdeen North Carolina Real Estate
In 1739, the first Scottish colonist came to America and settled in the Cape Fear Region. The Highland Scots settled in Moore County for the availability of land and four major roads. With the railroads, a community called Blues Crossing grew steadily and eventually became Aberdeen .
Aberdeen Real estate has always been a valued commodity and in 1880 Alison Francis Page bought 1,600 acres of timber and began his business. Page and his business efforts were a success from the start. Blues Crossing changed from a mere stopping point on the railroad to an important commercial center. In October 1887, Blues Crossing adopted the name Aberdeen in honor of the Highland Scot that had originally settled the area.
Today Aberdeen's population is about 10,800. Their historic district has been refurbished and preserved by the town's citizens. On July 2, 1989, the Aberdeen Historic District was dedicated, and encompasses 88 acres and over 100 historic buildings that were constructed in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Take a drive down tree-lined streets, where homes built earlier in the century remain unchanged. Enjoy Aberdeen's antique shops in the old hardware building downtown. At the other end of the spectrum, US Hwy 1 hosts the modern business section where Aberdeen and Southern Pines have grown together. New restaurants, hotels and shopping areas are springing up to answer the needs of both our residents and tourists alike.
Under the leadership of the businessmen like Alison Page, Aberdeen embraces it's past. And today under a new generation of leaders, Aberdeen NC Real Estate is flourishing with combining the new with the best of the past. Aberdeen real estate offers value in an up and coming neighborhood.
